Design thinking for Communication

Think like a designer: solve problems based on customer needs

To solve complex problems in communication, you should not think like a specialist, but as a designer. How do you gain insight into the needs of the user or customer with design thinking, and how do you arrive at new creative and innovative ideas, processes, and/or products?

In the Design thinking in communication training, you apply design thinking in 4 steps to a concrete issue from your own organization. You will be introduced to instruments such as personas and service blueprints and you will look for the sweet spot for innovation.

The following topics are covered during the Design thinking for communication training:

Day 1

What is design thinking?

The 4 steps of design thinking (double diamond model): discover, define, invent and prototype

Desirable, viable, feasible: your target group as a starting point

Design research: interview techniques and design research

Understand the real needs of the target audience

Risk reduction in setting up and rolling out the communication strategy

How do you create and validate a persona?

Day 2

Design thinking & the customer journey

The use of service blueprints

Communicate successfully with your target group (s)

Smart brainstorming

Testing your concepts: prototype, learn, and improve

Keep in mind that you will apply a number of methods yourself between the first and second day. The retrieved data/information is used on day 2.

The training is intended for anyone who wants to solve (complex) communication issues in an innovative way. Think of: communication managers, communication advisers, communication specialists and communication project leaders.
